Officer Frank Denzinger was shot and killed when he and Officer Joel White responded to a domestic disturbance call in Georgetown, Indiana.
A 15-year-old suspect ambushed both officers with a high powered rifle as they arrived at the scene. Officer Denzinger was transported to University Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, where he succumbed to his wounds. Officer White was also wounded in the shooting.
The suspect committed suicide in the home a short time later.
Officer Denzinger had served with the agency for 4 years. He is survived by his wife, 2-year-old daughter, parents, and two sisters.
